The PTFE piston seal is an excellent choice for most high duty cycle linear actuators because it provides low friction performance and long service life. These seals are relatively low cost, and because of the low friction of PTFE, they can almost eliminate stick-slip piston movement behavior. It's important to note that for proper use they must be used in conjunction with an O-Ring energizer.
Depending on your application's demands, PTFE piston rings come in over 1500 different combinations of materials, cuts, cross-sections and other options. There are over 10+ different options for material choices alone. Some of the most popular are 15% glass filled PTFE, 40% bronze filled PTFE, and 5% molybdenum disulfide (Moly) filled PTFE.
